A little sortie to the garden of orchids and ferns

One hot afternoon we took a taxi 2km out of Santiago to a hidden gem, the garden of orchids and ferns.  I loved this place - a lush, green haven of 350 ferns and 90 orchids, set up in 1976 by botanist Manuel Caluff.  We were the only visitors, and Mr Caluff himself gave us a guided tour around his garden.
