About Me

My photo
Leaving the British winter far behind, I'm blogging about my travels in the Cuban sunshine. The photos are a combined effort between my travel chum CDD and me. The words are all mine.

Pretty poinsettia flowers

Due to a glitch in booking seats on an overnight bus (a common occurence in Cuba) we found ourselves with a few hours to spare in the vicinity of Havana's Viazul bus station.  Guide books at the ready, we discovered the sprawling Necropolis Colon to be a few blocks away and set out to find it.  Street names are scant in Cuba, and instead you have to reply on street numbers marked on small concrete pyramids in the ground.  Not always easy!

Wandering through the back streets we came across these beautiful poinsettia flowers.  In Cuba they're aptly named 'Christmas flowers' and looked stunning against the backdrop of concrete houses and flats.
